Jealousy can be noxious to any relationship, but it is only natural to feel it sometimes. It is important to deal with feelings of jealousy head on and with self-awareness. Here are a few of our tips for dealing with jealous feelings when in a relationship.

1 – Trust
Do you believe in your partner? This is arguably the cornerstone of any relationship. If you trust your partner it should be easy to communicate feelings of jealousy and believe their explanations.
2 – Confidence
Understand that you are with your partner for a reason and they WANT to be with you. Stop comparing yourself to others and remember that it is your relationship and only you and your partner can spoil it, or make it flourish.
3 – Be a Whole Person
Don’t be afraid to lose your partner. That may sound strange, but to be in a relationship you have to be capable of being alone and happy. If you feel this person is your ‘other half’ you may cling too tightly and be desperate to keep them, which isn’t healthy. Remember that you CAN be independent and you don’t NEED your partner to be happy.
4 – Curb your Imagination
Don’t confuse make believe with reality. For example, if your partner is late, you may imagine a bunch of jealousy-inducing scenarios and work yourself into a frenzy without any evidence. Which can cause a fight when your partner returns home – regardless if there was truly a reason to be jealous.
